Match info for Sept. 10

Gentlemen,

We will be playing Metropolis DII and DIV on Saturday at the All-MN Tournament.

We have not yet received match times from the organizers; however, based on previous years times, DII will kick-off at 1:00pm and DIV will immediately follow around 2:30pm.

The address of the field is:  VFW Post 5518 Rugby Grounds, 7350 Quaday Ave NE, Elk River, MN 55330.

Make sure to put in the NE otherwise your GPS may send you to another location.  The parking lot will most likely be full by very early in the morning.  You can park in the back lot (grass lot) on the east side of the fields.  The entrance of the grass lot address is roughly 16167 72nd Street Northeast, Otsego, MN 55330.

Be there at 11:45am so you can figure out what field we are at.

Backs are on water duty this week.  Each back bring a case of water for team use.

If you have jerseys, bring them or if you will not be there, bring them to practice tonight.

Please update your availability so Coach can make rosters.

This will technically be Metropolis’ home match and they will most likely not be having a social.  Goose is planning a team social at the Deschutes Street Fest in the Warehouse District of Minneapolis.  Head there once we finish up our matches.  Here is the facebook event page with all of the details.

All times are tentative.  Once we receive official times from the tournament officials, we will notify you immediately.

Fall Update by Coach

Gentlemen,

I hope everyone is having a great summer.  If you were not able to participate in 7’s, I hope you were active doing something else.

Here is our practice schedule for the fall of 2016

August 2nd: skills practice (passing, running form, kicking, etc.) – if you feel that you have the perfect pass, running and kicking form, we will see you Thursday
August 4th: first regular practice

Practice will continue each Tuesday and Thursday at Afton Park Height Field.  Practice times 6:30-8:30 (subject to change based on sunlight)

2016 Fall Schedule

8/27 Eastside
9/3 Jesse James (potentially moving Eastside game to this date)
9/10 @ Metro II
9/17 Wisconsin
9/24 @ Green Bay
10/1 Bye
10/8 Metro II
10/15 @ Eastside
10/22 Green Bay
10/29 @ Wisconsin

The board is making a decision on the moving the Eastside game to Labor Day.  You will be updated as soon as that decision has been made.

We have two travel weekends – Green Bay and Wisconsin, the games are a month apart.  Get your work schedules prioritized.  Plan any non-rugby trips over the bye week.

I am looking forward to the fall – we have the ability to do great things this fall if we can all get on the same page.  If you have not done anything this summer accept chase Pokémon, I would get out and run before getting to practice.

See everyone August 2nd,

Troy Midboe
Coach
St Paul Rugby Club

Fall Scheduling

Hi gentlemen,

The Midwest Union is in the process of setting up the schedule for next
fall and has asked if we have any special scheduling requests.

In the past we have asked for a bye weekend because of a player having a
wedding during the season (try to avoid that…weddings are cheaper in
winter anyways). Or another event that would pull a lot of guys away from a
game.

Feel free to submit any request directly to me (midboet@gmail.com)  and I will determine if it’s
fits the criteria.

Expect a similar schedule to last year. 8 games, home and away (so two real
travel games) starting in late August and running through late
October/early November.

I am sure they have already given everyone a bye weekend for the NZ v
Ireland game.
